The imminent departure of young defender Jarell Quansah, who will soon join Bayer Leverkusen on a £35 million deal, leaves the Anfield giants with only two senior defenders, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez, as pairing options beside skipper Virgil van Dijk.
However, recent contract renewal conundrum of the French international has raised concerns regarding the shape of the LFC defense.
This is where Marc Guehi appears as a viable transfer option for Liverpool.
The English international has just a year remaining on his Crystal Palace contract and he has clarified that he’ll not sign a contract extension at Selhurst Park.
Guehi is a seasoned PL centre-back who started 34 league games in the 2024-25 season, averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 4.6 clearances (stats via WhoScored).
The Palace captain was once valued £65 million but now the London side will not be able to extract any more than £35 million at the most.
The Reds have the opportunity of securing the 24-year-old defender at this bargain price this summer.
Or else, they can simply hold talks to agree a pre-agreement for a free transfer around the same time as now next year.
Kopites, should Liverpool sign Marc Guehi this summer or wait for free deal till next summer?
